EP’ High Performance Worm Gear Systems
A worm is configured much like a machine screw, but with teeth made to mesh with one’s teeth of a worm wheel. These little precision gears may have solo or multiple threads (referred to as starts). With each revolution, a single-start worm will approach the linked worm wheel by one tooth; worms with multiple begins will approach the mating worm equipment a corresponding quantity of pearly whites with each revolution. (electronic.g., a 2-begin worm will move their worm wheel two tooth per revolution.)
Standard worm equipment worm wheels feature straight, helical-cut teeth and offer only one point of contact with the worm. EP offers “throated” worm wheels with curved, helical-cut teeth whose curves meet the radius of the worm itself. Throated worm wheels provide a much greater get in touch with area, which vastly boosts load potential and longevity.
